Steven Kruijswijk has passed the sixth stage of the Tour de Suisse without any problems. The Team LottoNL-Jumbo team captain finished the stage in Gommiswald with the other GC riders. In the general classification, he climbed to the twelfth place.

In the stage with the famous Furka- and Klausenpass, a large breakaway including Maarten Wynants got established quite quickly after the start. On the Klausenpass, Wynants eventually dropped from the breakaway and together with Enrico Battaglin and Koen Bouwman he later was of great value to Kruijswijk.

“Stevie has finished the stage without problems. He was where he needed to be. That’s good”, Addy Engels said. “The Klausenpass was too difficult for Maarten, but it was very good that he was there. Together with Enrico and Koen he worked hard for Steven after that. The peloton climbed those two mountains in a controlled manner.”

Engels expected more spectacle tomorrow with the finish in Arosa after a climb of almost thirty kilometres. “We’ll try to achieve the best possible result with Stevie. Both in the stage and for the classification. The stage should suit him better than the one to Leukerbad. It’s important to put him in the best possible position for the ascent of the climb and then we’ll see where we end up.”
