Bennett 19th in Milano-Torino

George Bennett placed 19th in the Italian classic Milano-Torino today. The rider from New Zealand was able to hold on with the best for a long time in the tough race final, which Diego Rosa (Astana) used asa launchpad for a solo victory.

“The race’s run-up was totally flat today,” sports director, Merijn Zeeman said after the race. “It ended up with a local circuit with two steep climbs. During the first climb, many riders were distanced. Steven Kruijswijk and George Bennett were able to stay with the head of the race.

"The heat was on on the final climb. It looked like Steven was able to compete with the best, but he had to let them go in the end. George finished 19th, and that’s a good result for him.”
