Boom ninth in general classification after third stage Tour of Britain

Lars Boom could consolidate his top ten position in the general classification during the third stage of the Tour of Britain. The 31-year-old rider of Team LottoNL-Jumbo was part of the lead out for Dylan Groenewegen and could maintain position in the peloton afterwards. Eventually, Dylan Groenewegen finished sixteenth on a hilly finish.

Groenewegen couldn’t compete for the victory today. “The finish was too difficult for me”, he said afterwards. “Everything has to be perfect for a sprinter like me in a stage like this. That wasn't the case. I’m convinced I can sprint for the victory in flatter stages, but this finish was too tough for me.”

Despite that, LottoNL-Jumbo's sprint train is becoming better by the day. “It doesn’t go bad at all indeed, but we can still improve”, Groenewegen mentioned. “I’m also an important part of the train. I have to coach the guys in front of me. That’s new for me and it requires some adaptions. Anyway, I have confidence for tomorrow’s stage. It should suit me better.”
