Eenkhoorn part of breakaway in fourth stage Tour of Guangxi

Pascal Eenkhoorn has been part of the breakaway in the fourth stage of Tour of Guangxi. The rider from Team LottoNL-Jumbo and escapee Küng were caught by the peloton with a few kilometres to go.

“It was a tough day in front”, Eenkhoorn said. “At first, we were with three riders, but Kluge dropped back. Unfortunately, Küng and me didn’t get much space. In the last thirty kilometres, we accelerated, but it wasn’t enough. Though it gives a nice feeling and it’s good for the future.”

“Pascal paced his race well”, sports director Grischa Niermann said. “He and his fellow escapee were riding in front up until the last five kilometres before the finish. Sepp Kuss and Neilson Powless were put in a good position at the foot of the short final climb, but they couldn’t go for a top result. The last few days, these guys have put a lot of energy in controlling the stages, so it was taken into account. Tomorrow’s stage will probably end in a sprint again. The forecast calls for rain, so it’s going to be a hard day again.”
