False start for Team LottoNL-Jumbo in Tirreno-Adriatico

Team LottoNL-Jumbo has started less sucessful than hoped in Tirreno-Adriatico. After a team time trial of 21.5 kilometres, the team became thirteenth at 51 seconds of the BMC Racing Team which won the race.

The team lost riders too quickly. “In an early stage of the race, we had only four riders left and that’s difficult”, time trial coach Mathieu Heijboer explained. “In addition, only three riders could take over in the last five kilometres and that was insufficient.”

“The disadvantage on a number of teams is already quite large and that’s a shame, because Primoz Roglic is aiming for a good general classification. The coming days will tell us if we can make up for the lost time.”
