Team LottoNL-Jumbo rides free and open in Brussels

On September 5th, Team LottoNL-Jumbo comes without pressure for the Brussels Cycling Classic. Team manager Frans Maassen has seven riders at his disposal.

"The race is comparable to the Brabantse Pijl,” Maassen said. "The last 50km we come across the Alsemberg and the Bruine Put, but the finish is flat, so I expect teams with sprinters will try to control the race. We do not have a sprinter in the team here and will take the opportunity to try to attack.”

The 200.8-kilometer race is ideal for Sep Vanmarcke ahead of the Canadian campaign in Quebec and Montreal. For Jos van Emden, the race in Brussels fits perfectly into the preparations towards the World Championship in Richmond, USA.

"It is the last race before we heading for a longer time to Canada and the US," says Van Emden. "It's good to go deep again and if I see a chance I certainly will take it. After Quebec and Montreal we remain in America. The Brussels Cycling Classic is an ideal preparation for that period.”

Trainee Steven Lammertink was also on the roster, but chose to skip the race. The European trial champion Lammertink will focus on the U-23 World Championship time trail in Richmond held on September 21. Lammertink was replaced by Brian Bulgac.

Team line-up:
Brian Bulgac, Rick Flens, Tom Leezer, Paul Martens, Jos van Emden, Sep Vanmarcke and Robert Wagner
