Team LottoNL-Jumbo third in Hammer Series Limburg

Team LottoNL-Jumbo has finished in third place in the second edition of the Hammer Series in Limburg. The formation of sports director Nico Verhoeven started the 37,2 kilometre Hammer Chase also as the third team. The team started in order of the classification after the Hammer Climb and Hammer Sprint and the teams had to chase each other with fixed time intervals.

“This is really beautiful. We wanted to keep at least the third place and we succeeded”, sprinter Danny van Poppel said. “In the last lap, the race had become tactical, but I knew from last year not to panic. We kept our heads cool and finished in third place. It’s nice that we succeeded.”

Pascal Eenkhoorn was impressed by the strength of the team today. “We rode really well together. We knew we could beat Bahrain-Merida and so we did. We wanted to be on the podium and in the last lap it was all-in. Just awesome.”

Sports director Nico Verhoeven could also live with the third place. “It was a tough fight, but we managed to finish on the podium. The boys fought really, really hard. Third was the highest possible and that’s a great achievement. We have competed with the best teams during these three days. It’s always fun and the result is the confirmation that we are doing well.

After the Hammer Series in Stavanger and Limburg, Team LottoNL-Jumbo is fourth in the overall ranking. The final will be held in Hong Kong this autumn.
