Top-5 classifications for Team LottoNL-Jumbo in Germany and Belgium

Both in Münsterland Giro as in Binche-Chimay-Binche, Team LottoNL-Jumbo achieved the fifth place. In the former race, Dylan Groenewegen sprinted for the team to the fifth place. After a whole day in the breakaway, Amund Grondahl Jansen claimed the same classification in Belgium.

The Münsterland Giro ended with a bunch sprint, just like in former editions. “We knew that it would be difficult to compete for the victory, because there were a lot of good sprinters at the start”, sports director Grischa Niermann declared. “Groenewegen wasn’t positioned well. Looking back, he maybe waited too long. Despite that, the fifth place isn’t a disgrace in this race.”

Team LottoNL-Jumbo was combative in Belgium. “I was in a leading group of 28 riders with Bram Tankink and Twan Castelijns”, Amund Grondahl Jansen described the race. “Afterwards, Twan and I could escape with 8 other riders. I felt well, but I had a puncture at a crucial moment.”

After a quick wheel change, Grondahl Jansen regained position in the leading group. “But it took a lot of power. So in the end I couldn’t compete for the victory. Nevertheless we were very strong as a team.”
