Van Winden and Groenewegen ready for the Champions League Cycling Revolution round in London

LottoNL-Jumbo is sending Dylan Groenewegen and Dennis van Winden to the second round of the Champions League Cycling Revolution this weekend in London. The WorldTour teams will compete against each other and a number of track cyclists.

After the first round in Manchester, LottoNL-Jumbo’s men sit eighth overall. The Groenewegen/Van Winden duo will be on the track for points race, team elimination, the scratch and the Madison time-trial.

“It was nice for us,” Van Winden said. “We raced on the track with a cadence that you do not see very often.

Victory may be out of reach. “The real track riders are too big but that makes it no less interesting. You do everything you can to gain a lap, but you often lose a lap! But it remains fun to race against Olympic champions like Viviani [Team Sky] and Clancy [JLT Condor]."

Dennis van Winden will leave Team LottoNL-Jumbo after this race. Next year, he will race the Israeli Cycling Academy, and this is putting him in a good place for 2017. "The Revolution Cycling Champions League was the first real effort after the rest period. This week, I trained hard on the road. Now,we can go full-gas on the track in London."
