Bennett concedes time, but keeps sixth place in Giro

George Bennett has defended his sixth place overall in the eleventh stage of the Giro d’Italia. The resident of New Zealand lost about twenty seconds on the first riders on the tough final climb towards the finish. The short eleventh stage was a stage with a high average speed. Team LottoNL-Jumbo took its responsibility by controlling the stage with Gijs van Hoecke, Jos van Emden, and later also Koen Bouwman, to get George Bennett and Enrico Battaglin in the ideal position for the final climb. Bennett tried to counter the attack of Maglia Rosa Simon Yates and finished twelfth despite a mechanical failure in the final. Listen to the reactions about today’s stage here.
