Kruijswijk starts in eighth place in time trial Switzerland

Steven Kruijswijk will depart tomorrow as the number eight in the general classification in the final time trial of the Tour de Suisse. The leader of Team LottoNL-Jumbo consolidated his position in the general classification today in the penultimate stage.

According to sports director Addy Engels, there was little to gain for Team LottoNL-Jumbo. “In the previous mass sprints, we had Enrico Battaglin who participated for the podium. Today’s sprint was less good for him. I’m glad that Steven was able to defend his place in the standings. We didn’t win anything, but we didn’t lose anything either.”

According to the sports director, he can gain a couple of places in tomorrow’s 34-kilometre time trial. “Steven can gain two places, but he can also lose one”, Engels said.
